Ethiology of Necrotic enteritis?
A
Etiology:
- C. perfringens C -
- alpha and beta toxin (trypsin-sensitive)

Epidemiology?
A
Epidemiology:
- soil-gut,
- piglets of young sows,
- imported sows more frequently,
- older sows (colostral immunity)

Pathogenesis?
A
Pathogenesis:
- infection PO
- > replication in small intestine
- > necrosis
- > toxemia, death
- mortality 20-100%

Clinical signs?
A
Clinical signs:
- 2-4 days old piglets
- fever
- anorexia
- weightloss
- diarrhea (feces greyish yellow, gas bubbles, debris)

Pathology?
A
• Pathology:
- Jejunum: rigid, tube-like,
- reddish MM,
- foamy gut content,
- gas bubbles,
- necrosis with sharp ends,
- yellow MM
- Fibrin between the bowels,
- hemorrhages

Diagnosis:
- epidemiology,
- clinical signs,
- PM lesions
- Bacterium culture:
- mesentherial LN,
- gut
- o Detection of toxins

Treatment:
- fast,
- no time for treatment, (litter mates serum)
