  • older sows (colostral immunity)

  • > replication in small intestine
  • > necrosis
  • > toxemia, death
    • mortality 20-100%

  • fever
  • anorexia
  • weightloss
  • diarrhea (feces greyish yellow, gas bubbles, debris)

  • Jejunum: rigid, tube-like,
  • reddish MM,
  • foamy gut content,
  • gas bubbles,
  • necrosis with sharp ends,
  • yellow MM
  • Fibrin between the bowels,
