11.9 Primary Controls Flashcards
What are the three primary controls?
Ailerons, elevators, rudders
What are primary flight controls?
Controls which provide the aerodynamic force necessary to make the aircraft rotate around its axes
How is steady flight achieved?
They must be in a state of balance, zero moments around the axes
What control does ailerons give?
Longitudinal control
Where do you locate the ailerons on a wing
The trailing edge
How do you perform a right roll?
Right ailerons up and left down
What control do the elevators control?
Lateral control
What do the elevators allow the aircraft to do?
Climb and descend
What does pulling the control surfaces for the elevators cause the aircraft to do?
It deflects the elevators up and causes a nose up tail down action
What controls does the rudder give the aircraft?
Vertical (directional) control
What is the rudder controlled by?
Left and right rudder pedals
If you press down the left pedal what way does the aircraft turn?
Left
