11.10 Cross-feed & Transfer Flashcards
what is the fuel transfer system?
a series of fuel lines and valves that permits movement of fuel from one tank to another onboard the aircraft
what valves are used in fuel flight transfer and what do they need to be set to, to work?
cross feed valves and must be selected to open
To transfer fuel from one tank to another when the aircraft is on the ground. The engineer is required to?
Open the cross-feed valves.
Switch on boost pumps in the tank from which the fuel is to be transferred, which pressurises the engine feed manifold.
Open the defuel valve, which connects the engine feed manifold to the refuel manifold.
Open the refuel valve for the tank that is to receive the transferred fuel
what does the fuel cross feed valve do?
allow fuel to flow between the left and right engine fuel feed manifolds
how many parts does the motor actuated valve have and what are they?
3, they are the valve body, adapter and shaft and the actuator
what does the valve body do?
the valve body connects to the left and right engine fuel feed manifold. The valve body has an operating shaft and a butterfly valve. There are no hard stops for the butterfly valve. The valve position is shown with the alignment marks
what does the adapter and shaft do?
the adapter and shaft attach between the rear spar and the operating shaft. The adapter has a mounting plate and an actuator adapter plate
what does the actuator do?
the actuator is a 28 Vdc motor. It has a manual override lever that allows the valve to operate without electrical power
