Who is the aircraft’s emergency equipment regulated by?
Dependent on size of the aircraft however the regulations are derived from EASA
Can you release an aircraft if there is missing emergency equipment ?
No, it is essential for all safety equipment needs to be present.
Where can details regarding required emergency equipment be found?
-European technical standard order (ETSO)
-acceptable means of compliance is in CS-25
Where is the normal location for a life jacket?
Underside of the seat or in a little pocket beneath the seat
How do life jackets inflate ?
By Co2 canisters or If that fails, can be inflated by a mouth piece
What should every life jacket be equipped with ?
A whistle and a light
What can be used to help flight crew fight fires?
Portable oxygen sets
If an aircraft has more than nine passengers, what must be present ?
A crash axe or crowbar so people can escape in case of emergency
Where can the exact location of the crash axe or crowbar be found ?
ATA CHAPTER 25 of the AMM
How many first aid kits must be present if 0-90, 100- 199, 200-299 or 300+ are on the aircraft ?
-1 for 0-99
-2 for 100- 199
-3 for 200-299
-4 for 300+
If an aircraft has more than 61 passengers what must be equipped?
A megaphone or if there is more than 100 there must be two
When a passenger crew door is opened in armed position, what happens?
When in armed position, a white light comes on showing it is armed. The gurt bar engages with the door clips, when opened actuators quickly slide the door open and the emergency slide inflates.
When a door is armed and opened from the outside what happens ?
Emergency slide mechanism will de-activate?
How is an escape slide checked for serviceability?
Gauge for the pressure reservoir must be in the green range
What is the emergency escape slide connected to ?
The girt bar
