Long-acting, non-depolarizing paralytic agent
Mechanism of action
Non depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, Skeletal muscle relaxant including ,respiratory muscles
Indications
To facilitate intubation, to terminate laryngospasm, pro promote muscular relaxation
Contraindications
Inability to control airway or support ventilations with oxygen and positive pressure
Adverse effects
Apnea, dysrhythmias, transient hypotension or hypertension, tachycardia.
Incompatibilities/ drug interactions
Non in pre hospital setting
Routs of admin
IV/IO
Onset of action
Onset within 2-3 min. duration of 30-45min
Adult dose
0.1mg/kg IV/IO; repeat as needed
Pediatric dose
0.1mg/kg IV/IO repeat as needed
Special notes
Always sedate prior to the administration of vecuromium
Intubation and ventilatory support must be readily available, Vecuronium has no effect on consciousness or pain. Administer pain analgesics as indicated
Will not stop neuronal seizure activity. Andimister anti-convulsant as indicated
Pregnancy safety: category C
