Class
Anti-dysrhuthmic, local anesthetic
Mechanism of Action
Decreases automaticity by slowing the rate of phase 4 depolarization
Indications
VT, wide complex tachycardia, VF, local anesthetic of bone marrow for IO
Contraindications
Known allergy or sensitivity, second or third degree heart block, idoventricular, heart rate
Adverse effects
Seizures, AMS, confusion, bradycardia
Incompatibilities/ Drug interactions
Cardiac depression when given in conjunction with Dilantin/procainamide
Routes of Admin
IV/IO
Onset of Action
onset 1-3 min
peak 5-10 min
Variable duration 15min-2hrs
Adult dose
1.0 mg/kg IV/IO every 3-5 min, max dose 3mg/kg
1-4mg/min IV infusion
1-2cc IO for pain control
Pediatric dose
1.0mg/kg IV/IO max dose of 3mg/kg
20-50mcg/kg/min infusion
