Class
Non-opioid analgesic, antipyretic
Indications
Mild Pain or Fever
Adult Dose
500-1000mg, PO every 6-8 hrs
Pediatric dose
15 mg/kg PO every 4-6hrs
Contraindications
Liver disease, renal disease, chronic alcoholism, administration of acetaminophen or acetaminophen containing medications within the previous four hours. MAINLY COMMON COLDS MEDICATIONS CONTAIN ACETAMINOPHEN. Allergy to Acetaminophen.
Precautions
Inability to swallow or take medication by mouth, respiratory distress, persistent vomiting.
Adult toxic dose: 7.5 g-10 g
Pediatric toxic dose: 150 mg/kg
Adverse effects
Hepatotoxicity associated with overdose. May cause adverse Reno reactions when you get in with NSAIDs, salicylates.
