What is trigger finger?
A
Tendonitis of a flexor tendon to a digit

What features of trigger finger?
A
- Enlargement of affected tendon
- Usually distal to a fascial pulley over metacarpal neck
- Nodule catches on & passes underneath pulley (clicking sensation)
- Finger may lock in flexed position

Which fingers are most commonly affected by trigger fingr?
A
Ring finger
Middle finger

Signs/symptoms of trigger finger?
A
- Clicking sensation during movement
- May lock in flexed position
- May have to forcibly manipulate finger to regain extension

Treatment of trigger finger?
A
-Conservative= injection of steroid around tendon within the sheath
Surgery:
-Recurrent cases/persistent cases=
Incision of the pulley (A1) this doe snot affect function
