A

-Progressive pain and stiffness of shoulder in patients 40-60 resolving after around 24 months

Why does adhesive capsulitis occur?

A
  • Unclear
  • Sometimes history of triggering trauma
  • May occur after surgery on shoulder
  • Assoc with diabetes, hypercholesterolaemia, Dupuytren’s

Signs/symptoms of Frozen shoulder?

A
  • Initial pain (subsides after 2-9 months)
  • Stiffening increases (4-12 months)
  • Stiffening gradulaly thaws over time

Treatment of adhesive capsulitis?

A
  • Non-operative= relieving pain while condition resolves
  • Physiotheraoy
  • Analgesic
  • Intra-articular injections
  • Manipulation under anaesthetic (tears capsule)
  • Surgical capsular release (divide capsule)
