Tissue fluid Flashcards
What is tissue fluid?
is the liquid found a brown cells that is mainly made of plasma leaks through diffusion out of the capillaries
Where is tissue fluid found and why?
It’s found around an indirect contact with every cell, so it can provide nutrients like oxygen to them
why is tissue fluid in constant movement?
so it’s able to constantly transport nutrients to cells
how is tissue fluid different blood?
It contains no erythrocytes (meaning its not red), leukocytes or proteins
Describe the formation of tissue fluid:
- Blood travels through progressively smaller vesicles
- This increases the hydrostatic pressure
- Due to the capillaries, having thin layers of endothelium, the plasma from blood and other dissolved substances can leak out from the cell walls
- this is tissue fluid
How does tissue fluid re-enter the capillary?
when the oncotic pressure is stronger than the hydrostatic pressure and this is stronger at the venule end of the capillary
What does lymph vessels do?
-The absorb the rest of the tissue fluid that does not re-enter the capillary
- Eventually this joins the blood in the subclavian vein
What is lymph?
lymph is the leftover fluid that does not reenter the capillary so instead is eventually brought back to the blood through the subclavian vein. It’s similar to tissue fluid except it has less glucose, amino acids and oxygen, but more fat.
What is the lymph system made out of?
lymph vessels, lymph, lymph nodes
How does the lymph system move tissue fluid?
With skeletal muscles, not the heart
