Q

what is the cardiovascular system controlled by?

A

2 nodes:
- Sino atrial node, which is located in the left atrium and acts as a natural pacemaker
- arteioventricular node which is in the central area of the heart

Q

How did the two notes work to control the heart?

A
  • Sino atrial node, causes atria systole
  • The atrioventricular node stops the atria systole and creates a break before passing the electrical signals down the bundle of his to the apex, and then up the ventricles through the Purkinje fibres

A

when the atria contract increasing the pressure and decrease in the volume, so blood moves into the ventricles

Q

what are the two types valves?

A
  • semi lunar valves which are found in the arteries
  • artrioventricular valves which are found in the between the ventricles and atrium

Q

describe the path of blood through the cardiovascular system:

A
  1. Vena Cava brings blood from the body to the
  2. right atrium.
  3. Passes through the atrioventricular valve.
  4. into the right ventricle.
  5. Moves into the pulmonary artery.
  6. Through the semi lunar valve.
  7. To the lungs.
  8. From the lungs moves into the pulmonary vein which brings it back to the heart
  9. Enters the left atrium.
  10. Through the atrioventricular valve.
  11. Into the left ventricle.
  12. Moves into the aorta.
  13. Through the semi lunar valve.
  14. To the body.
