Q
what is biles role in digestion?
A
- neutralise stomach acid

Q
what are the 5 stages of digestion?
A

- assimilation
- egestion
6
Q
structure and function of small intestine?
A
- 2 halfs:
1. jejunum
2. ilium - long muscular tube with inner walls that have folds called villi and that secret digestive juices and enzymes
- where most nutrients is absorbed

A
- final section
- stores the feaces and carries out egestion which is the expulsion of the feaces

Q
structure and function of the stomach:
A
- a muscular sac with an inner layer that produces enzymes and glands that produce mucus to prevent enzyme damage and pepsin to digest proteins
- role is to store and digest food (mainly proteins)
