Stupid SAC flashcards
Aim:
To determine whether cued recall or recognition is a more reliable method of retrieval.
Simplified I.V.:
The method of retrieval used
Operationalised I.V.:
Whether the participants utilises cued recall (provided with the first letter of 20 words) or utilises recognition (provided with a list of 20 words plus 10 distractor words)
Simplified D.V.:
Memory reliability
Operationalised D.V.:
The mean number of words correctly recalled out of 20
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesised that those Haileybury Brighton Senior School students that use recognition (provided with a list of 20 words plus 10 distractor words) will more reliably recall (higher mean number of words correctly recalled out of 20) than those who use cued recall (are provided with the first letter of 20 words)
Population/Sample:
Haileybury Brighton Senior School Students
Sample Method:
Convienence
- Adv: Easy to organise
- Disadv: Less representative
Experimental Design:
Independent Groups design
Independent Groups:
Each participant is randomly allocated to one of two entirely separate groups
Strength:
No order effects
Efficient
Weakness:
Participant variables
Ethical Considerations:
Withdrawal Rights
Informed Consent
Confidentiality
Withdrawal Rights:
Participants are allowed to stop participating in the experiment at any time.
Informed Consent:
Participants must be told about the nature, risks and rights of the study.
