2: KKDP 3 Classical Conditioning Flashcards
Learning:
A relatively permanent change in behaviour or knowledge that occurs as a result of experience
Active/Intentional Learning E.G:
Taking lessons to learn the violin
Unintentional/Passive Learning E.G:
Suck up words from a T.V show
Conditioning:
The process of learning associations between a stimulus in the environment and a behavioural event
Classical conditioning:
Refers to a type of learning that occurs through repeated associations of two or more stimuli
Classical Conditioning characteristics:
- Association between the stimuli is involuntary, response produced automatically
- A response that is automatically produced by one stimuli becomes associated with or linked to stimuli that would not normally produce this response
3 Phases:
Before conditioning
During Conditioning
After Conditioning
UCS:
Unconditioned Stimulus
UCR:
Unconditioned Response
NS:
Neutral Stimulus
CS:
Conditioned Stimulus
CR:
Conditioned Response
Before Conditioning:
NS –> Leash
UCS –> Going on a walk
During Conditioning:
NS –> Leash
UCS –> Going on a walk
UCR –> Increased heart rate in response to going on a walk
After Conditioning:
CS –> Leash
CR –> Increased heart rate in response to seeing the leash
