Biological Risk Factors:
Originate or develop within the body and consequently may not be under our control
Genetic Vulnerability:
Having a risk for developing a mental illness due to genetic inheritance.
Poor response to medication:
Generally, poor response to medication means having little to no reduction in the number or severity of the symptoms.
Poor Sleep:
A significant number of people with mental disorders report poor sleep prior to its onset and/or following its onset. However the relationship between mental disorders and sleep is complex, as it is difficult to establish cause and effect.
Substance abuse:
A person’s symptoms may lead them to substance use or the substance use may have resulted into the mental disorder, or a combination of both.
