How is an enlarged prostate treated?
Alpha blockers
Catheter
Surgery
What is chlamydia?
Bacterial infection
Minimal symptoms
Can cause arthritis
How is chlamydia treated?
Abx
What is gonorrhoea?
Bacteria infection
Dysuria and discharge
Can get arthritis
How is gonorrhoea treated?
ABx
What is syphilis?
Bacterial infection
How is syphilis treated?
ABx usually penicillin
What re the three stages of syphilis?
Primary - immune response
Secondary - rash/infection signs
Latent - asymptomatic - reoccurring rash
What is genital herpes?
Viral infection
Asymptomatic normally
Dysuria/painful sores
What is the treatment for herpes?
Stop itching
Antivirals are not routinely recommended
What are genital warts?
Caused by virus (HPV)
Highly contagious
Chronic
What is the treatment for genital warts?
Laser therapy
Topical creams
What is endometriosis?
Growth of endometrial tissue in sites other than the uterine cavity
What is the cause of endometriosis?
Idiopathic
What are the symptoms of endometriosis?
Pain
Bleeding
Generally unwell
Pain during sex
Infertility
Bladder/bowel complaints
What is the cure/treatment for endometriosis?
No cure
Analgesia
Hormone treatment (pill)
Surgery (hysterectomy)
What is testicular torsion?
When the testicle rotates and twists the spermatic cord .
This causes ischemia
What are the symptoms ion testicular torsion?
Sudden, sever pain in scrotum
Swelling of scrotum
Abdo pain
Nausea and vomiting
A testicle thats positioned higher or at an unusual angle
Frequent urination
Fever
