What is an example of prokaryotic cells?
Bacteria

No membrane bound organelles
Has ribosomes but smaller ones
What is the plasma membrane made out of?
Lipids and proteins
What does the plasma membrane do?
Controls the movement of substances in and out
What is the cell wall made out of + function?
Murein
Supports the cell and prevents changing shape
What does the slime capsule do?
Helps bacteria from attack of cells
What are plasmids + what do they contain?
Small loops of DNA
Contain genes for things like antibiotic resistance
What is the DNA like?
Floats freely in the cytoplasm
Circular, no histone proteins
What does the flagellum do?
Rotates to allow movement
What does pili do?
Helps in twitching mobility and helps bacteria adhere to surfaces
