What is personality?
An individuals traits ad characteristics that determine how they respond in situations.
What are the two types of personality?
Type A and Type B
Describe a Type A personality
Type A are usually impatient, competetive, rush to do things, ambitious and highly anxious
Describe Type B personalities.
Type B are usually more tolerant, relaxed, creative and are less likely to be anxious
What are the two theories based on personality?
Trait theories and social learning theory
Describe trait theories.
Trait theories are based on the belief that all personality is inherited through genetics. Trait theorists believed characteristics and traits to be stable.
Describe the social learning theory.
Social learning theories suggest that learning takes place via observing and imitating others. Social theorists believe that personality is not stable and can change depending on the surrounding environment.
What are the two types of social learning?
Modelling - when an individual models themself on others, usually of the same gender or sport.
Reinforcement - an individuals behaviour is rewarded or not accepted, leads to the individual performing it more or less.
What is an introverted personality?
Introverted personalities tend to keep to themselves, are less social and are shy or anxious.
What is an extroverted personality?
Extroverted personalities tend to be loud and sociable.
