Weiner’s attribution theory explores how athletes explain their success or failure and it seperates these attributes into three categories: stability, locus of causality and locus of control.

The self determination theory relates to how an athlete determines their ability and it has three elements: competence, autonomy and relatedness

What is the achievement goal theory?

A

The achievement goal theory splits athletes goals into two types of goals; task-orientated goals and outcome- orientated goals. Task - orientated goals focus on personal growth whereas outcome - orientated goals relate to an outcome of a performance.
