Pericarditis Flashcards
1
Q
pericarditis
A
inflm of pericardium (lining outside of heart)
- causes vasodilation, swelling, cellular respiration
- d/t infect or any other form of injury
- inflm –> inc capillary permb –> fluid fills pericardium and once full it moves to pericardial space –> exudate in pericardial space
- fibrinous or fluid exudate: fluid exudate easier to remove; fibrinous exudate worse b/c fixed in place –> both restrict cardiac Fx
2
Q
etiology
A
- infection
- myocardial injury
3
Q
mnfts
A
pericarditis triad:
- chest pain (worsens w/ breathing & movement)
- ECG serial changes
- pericardial rub (upon auscultation of heart)
4
Q
Dx
A
- mnfts
- ECG
- x-ray
- echocardiogram
5
Q
Tx
A
- based on cause
- address underlying cause
- anti-inflm drugs
- Abx?
