Exudate (Inflammation) Flashcards
1
Q
exudate
A
contains fluid, cells and proteins
2
Q
types of exudate
A
- serous
- purulent / suppurative
- hemorrhagic
- membranous
- fibrinous
3
Q
serous exudate
A
- clear, few proteins, & cells
- mild, acute injury
4
Q
purulent/suppurative exudate
A
- a lot of proteins, WBC, necrotic debris
- cloudy foul odor
- severe, acute injury (infection?)
5
Q
hemorrhagic exudate
A
- severed vessels (RBCs)
- severe injury
6
Q
membranous exudate
A
- necrotic cells in fibro-purulent exudate
- appears membranous (not a membrane)
7
Q
fibrinous exudate
A
- lots of fibrinogen
- forms sticky mesh
