Management for Bleeding

A
  1. Monitor for signs of shock (hypotension, palpitations, diaphoresis, chills, weak, thready pulse)
  2. Occult blood
  3. Hematocrit, Hemoglobin, and Coagulation studies

NPO status, gastric decompression or lavage

Avoid NSAIDS to minimize GI bleeding

Vasopressin (Pitressin) - vasoconstricting drug)

A
  1. Replace lost fluids, blood, and electrolytes
  2. Administer antibiotics
  3. NPO status
  4. Gastric lavage or decompression
  5. Monitor for signs of septic shock

pain, lethargy
