Nursing Care after Appendectomy

Answer 4

1. Maintain pt flat on bed 6-8hrs (if with spinal anesthesia)
2. High fowler’s position if without spinal anesthesia
3. Monitor for return of sensation in the lower extremities
4. NPO status until peristalsis returns
5. Client ambulation after 24hrs
6. Tell the client they can resume normal activities within 2-4 weeks
