Caused by a direct blow to the eye resulting in a fracture to the floor of the orbit. The modified Waters (OML 55 degrees with the film) best demonstrates most blowout fractures
Blowout fracture
Caused by a direct blow to the cheek resulting in a fracture of the zygoma in three places – the orbital process, the maxillary process and the
arch. It is named because it reflects separation of the zygoma from its three
principal attachments
Tripod Fracture
Describes a set of symptoms that indicates dysfunction of the
temporomandibular joint. May be caused by malocclusion, stress, muscle spasm
or inflammation
TMJ Syndrome
Hemorrhaging of blood from a ruptured artery or vein causing a collection of blood
