inflamamtion
distributio patchy and anywhere - can affect all layers (music, sub cut fat etc)
can be ulcerative in the mouth
long period of time
- can lead to fibrosis in bowl, cobble store effect

starts at rectum and travels up

diverticular disease and how does it occur

A

outpouchings of the musocsa
generally in the sigmoid colon

muscle wall of the bowl has holes to allow blood vessels
with lack of fibre, raised pressure in the bowel
has to squeeze harder to move contents, mucosa pushed towards the muscle layer through the wall (outpouring)

can become inflamed, rupture, faecues from clon can go into periteal cavity and get peritonitis
