only affects colon
starts at rectum and travels up

diverticular disease and how does it occur
outpouchings of the musocsa
generally in the sigmoid colon
muscle wall of the bowl has holes to allow blood vessels
with lack of fibre, raised pressure in the bowel
has to squeeze harder to move contents, mucosa pushed towards the muscle layer through the wall (outpouring)
can become inflamed, rupture, faecues from clon can go into periteal cavity and get peritonitis
colorectal cancer
adenomas (bening tumour) predisposed to colorectal cancer
treatment of colorectal cancer
adenoma (endoscopic resection) colorectal adenocarcinoma (surgical resection) metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma (chemotherapy palliative care)
