Monos, eos, baso, and mast cells Flashcards
Monocytes
In blood, migrate into tissues to become dendritic cells and macrophages.
Kinetics of monocytes/macrophages
No storage pool, have circulating and marginating pool. Long lived and can divide at least once in tissues
Monocytosis
Similar response as neutrophils since they share a stem cell
Eosinophil kinetics
Short (30min to 12hrs) in blood but long lived in the tissue. Can get massive tissue accumulations without an eosinophilia
Eosinophilia causes
-Hypersensitivity
-Parasitic disease
-Mast cell degranulation
-Addison’s disease
-Hypereosinophilic syndrome
-Paraneoplastic eosinophilia
Eosinopenia causes
Corticosteroids
Hyperadrenocorticism
Basophilia causes
Rare
-Hypersensitivity
-Parasitic disease
-Neoplasia
Basopenia
Not recognized
Mast cells
Round nucleus
More often in tissue
