-Increase fluid volumes, hypokalemia

-Decrease effectiveness with salicylates, barbiturates, hydantoins, rifampin, and anticholinesterases

- History: allergy, contraindications or cautions
- Physical: HF, HTN, infections; high sodium intake; lactation and pregnancy

- Imbalanced nutrition: more than body requirements r/t metabolic changes
- Excess fluid volume r/t sodium retention
- Impaired urinary elimination r/t sodium retention
- Deficient knowledge

Implementation
A
- Use only in conjunction with appropriate glucocorticoids
- Increase dose in times of stress
- Monitor for hypokalemia
- Discontinue if signs of overdose (excessive weight gain, edema, hypertension, cardiomegaly)
- Pt teaching
