- Covered: visceral layer of pelvic fascia
What is the function of the prostate?
- Fnx: Contributes to seminal fluid

Sup. aspect of urethral
sphincter and deep perineal muscles

What are the 3 lobes of the prostate?
- 1 medial lobe (not palpable)
- 2 lateral lobes (R&L)
- Palpable on rectal examination
What are the prostatic ducts? (2)
- 20-30 ducts
- Open into urethra
What is the arterial supply of the prostate?
- Arterial supply: Prostatic branches
- Inferior vesical, middle rectal & internal pudendal arteries
What is the venous supply of the venous drainage?
- Venous drainage
- Prostatic venous plexus → internal iliac veins
What are the Bulbo-urethral glands? (3)
- Two pea-sized glands (Cowper’s glands)
- Posterolateral to membranous urethra
- Lies in deep perineal pouch
What is the function of the Bulbo-urethral glands?
- Fnx: Contributes to seminal fluid
