What is a vision?
a long-term goal that describes what an organization wants to become
What is a strategic plan?
outlines an organization’s long-term goals and the actions necessary to achieve those goals

leaders are the architects, changing culture starts w one of 3 levels, consider the current change and how much it aligns w the org, use a structured approach
What is organizational socialization?
process where you gain knowledge, skills, etc to assume a work role

anticipatory, encounter, and change and acquisition
What is phase 1: anticipatory socialization?
occurs before an individual actually joins an

What is phase 2: encounter phase?
employees come to learn what the

What is phase 3: change and acquisition phase?
employees master important tasks to adjust to group

serial: learns from a role model
disjunctive: learns without one
What is investiture vs divestiture socialization tactic?
investiture: affirmations of newcomers
divesture: denial and losing ones sense of self

attraction: values match org
selection: says values match org
attrition: enters org
When does ASA model hold?
strong culture, strong cultural tie to org, when those who don’t agree with the org leave

change external image, change selection process, find people who don’t fit the culture

forming and maintaining intensive relationships
