What is JIA?
A
a condition affecting children and adolescents that causes autoimmune inflammation of the joints.

when can JIA be diagnosed?
A
when a child under 16 has arthritis for >6 weeks without any other cause.

What are the key features of any inflammatory arthritis?
A
Joint pain, swelling and stiffness. Morning stiffness delayed puberty rash or fever fatigue poor appetite weight loss

What are all patients with JIA screened for?
A
Uveitis.

what are the 5 main subtypes of JIA?
A
Systemic Polyarticular Oligoarticular Enthesitis related Psoriatic

what is the usual management for JIA?
A
NSAIDs
steroids
DMARDs (disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs): methotrexate 1st line, sulfasalazine, leflunomide.
Biologics: infliximab, adalumumab.

where do intraarticular steroids work best?
A
în oligoarticular JIA.
