A
blood film shows fragmented RBCs Hb level <10g/dl platelet count <150x10^9 serum creatinine - raised GFR < 80ml/min proteinuria on dipstick

management of HUS
A
medical emergency
self limiting - supportive care
maintain normal IV volume renal replacement therapy do not give antibiotics or NSAIDs dialysis if needed transfusion if needed
