ADOLESCENCE
Clogged pores in the skin that can appear
as blackheads or whiteheads, common in acne
COMEDONES
The ability to think
abstractly, solve complex problems, and consider
hypothetical situations, usually developing around age 12
and beyond.
FORMAL OPERATIONAL THOUGHT
Also called “carb loading,” a
practice where athletes eat a lot of carbohydrates before
intense physical activity to increase energy stores.
GLYCOGEN LOADING
A sense of self that adolescents develop,
including their beliefs, values, and personal goals.
IDENTITY
The physical changes during adolescence that
prepare the body for adulthood, including growth spurts,
development of reproductive organs, and hormonal
changes
PUBERTY
When a teenager struggles to figure
out who they are or what they want in life, often leading
to uncertainty about their future.
ROLE CONFUSION
Unwanted, repeated attention or harassment
that makes someone feel unsafe, which can happen in
person or online
STALKING
A condition where a person
has difficulty controlling their use of alcohol or drugs,
leading to negative effects on their health and daily life.
