Mental picture:

A
  • Restless, fearful, anxious.
  • Fear of death.
  • Disproportionate fear e.g., of crossing a road, fear of crowds.
  • Over-sensitive to pain, fears pain.
  • Fear of pain may be worse than the pain itself.
  • Symptoms may be triggered by fright / shock.

General picture:

A
  • Complaints come on suddenly.
  • Intense symptoms with rapid onset.
  • Symptoms come on after exposure to cold / dry wind.
  • Early stages of colds, fevers and inflammation.
  • Skin may be hot and dry; thirsty for cold drinks.
  • > fresh air.
  • < touch, evening / around midnight.

Indications (if they fit the symptom picture):

A
  • Shock after a traumatic experience e.g., accident, bad news; panic attacks.
  • Urinary retention, stool retention.
  • Acute fever (sudden, unexpected), no sweat.
  • First remedy given at the start of any cold or flu. Starts with a sore throat
  • < exposure to cold air, bathing in cold water.
  • Dry croupy cough.
  • For babies right after birth to avoid jaundice and get organs out of shock and working properly.
  • Crush 3 pills and mix with 5 ml water and drop slowly into baby’s mouth.
  • Alternatively, apply to the baby’s navel; three aconite 200C tablets crushed into calendula cream / ointment.

Case example 1:

A
  • 24-year-old woman, experiencing acute high fever, skin hot & dry to touch.
  • This was accompanied by high anxiety where she claimed: “I am not going to make it until tomorrow. Tomorrow I will be dead.”
  • Aconite 200C was given and the dose repeated after 20 minutes, and then again after 2 hours.
  • The acute fever came down within minutes and her anxiety abated.

Case example 2:

A
  • Boy aged 8 came to the clinic with his mum because he had suddenly started limping.
  • There was no pain or sign of infection and X-rays were normal.
  • The boy had been running, overlooked a step and fell (got a fright).
  • He had behaved strangely since.
  • Aconite 200C was given in the clinic room as a single dose and resolved the issue. He walked out of the clinic normally!
