EOC REVIEW: BOL- Positive and Negative Feedback Flashcards
What is homeostasis?
Homeostasis is the process by which living organisms maintain a stable internal environment, despite changes in the external environment.
What is negative feedback?
Negative feedback is the response to a change by initiating a response that OPPOSES the change.
What is positive feedback?
It AMPLIFIES a change, moving the system further away from its set point
What is a negative feedback loop?
A negative feedback look occurs when a reaction’s product causes the reaction to decrease. This process helps maintain homeostasis.
What is a positive feedback loop?
A positive feedback loop is a mechanism where a change in a system triggers a response that further amplifies the initial change, pushing the system further away from its equilibrium state.
