OCPD vs. OCD
OCPD - do not recognize their behavior as problematic; OCD - do recognize their behavior as problematic
Antisocial v. Conduct disorder
Same - disregard rights, break law, harm animals; Conduct
Alcohol abuse v. dependence
Alcohol abuse - recurrent use despite recurrent adverse consequences; Dependence - 3 of following: (1) tolerance (2) withdrawal (3) antabuse (4) inability to quit or cut back (5) significant amount of time spent recovering
Prevent relapse of recovering alcoholics
(1) alcholics anonymous (2) disulfiram (Antabuse) (3) topiramate (4) naltrexone (5) acamprosate; all monotherapy
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - Post op constipation & respiratory depression
Opiod overdose
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - severe depression, headache, fatigue, insomnia/hypersomnia, or hunger
Cocaine/Amphetamine withdrawal
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - pinpoint pupils (miosis), n/v, seizures
Opioid overdose
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - belligerence, impulsiveness, nystagmus, homicidal ideation, psychosis
PCP overdose
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - HA, anxiety, depression, weight gain
Nicotine/Caffeine withdrawal
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - anxiety, depression, delusion, hallucinations, flashbacks
LSD intoxication
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - Euphoria, social withdrawal, impaired judgements, hallucinations
Marijuana intoxication
Sx of overdose or withdrawal - rebound anxiety, seizure, tremors (life-threatening)
Alcohol/Benzo/Barbs withdrawal
