- how easily people become psychological and physical dependent on it (addiction)
The five classes of Controlled substances/drugs are:
- Narcotics Opioid analgesic

- CNS stimulants
- Hallucinogens
- Anabolic steroids
high abuse potential →ADDICTION
& no accepted medical use
Schedule I (S1) / (C-I)
Prescribing guidelines:
not available for therapeutic use (NOT prescribed)
Schedule I (S1)/(C-I)

Schedule II (S2) / (C-II)
Prescribing guidelines:
only available by a written prescription signed by prescriber & must be supplied w/in 72 hours. Can not be refilled unless in case of emergency.

Schedule III
Prescribing guidelines:
may not be refilled more than 5x or be dispensed or refilled more than 6 months after the date of PO is issued.
