Hemorrhage S&S
Tachycardia
Falling systolic pressure
Pale, cold and clammy skin
Mental changes
Decreased urinary output
Hypovolemic shock
Occurs when volume of blood is depleted and cannot fill the circulatory system
Postpartum hemorrhage
Caused from lacerations to tears of the reproductive tract or hematomas
More then 500 ml after a vaginal birth or 1 Liter after a C-section
Can lead to anemia
Uterine Atony
Collection of blood in the uterus, feels boggy and hard to feel
Fundal height is above the umbilicus
Loch is increased and may contain clots
Muscle fibers are not compressing vessels in the placenta
hat causes Uterine atony
Uterine over distention, retained placental fragments, prolonged labor, or use of frugs that relax uterus
How long does it take foe the vagina to retain its non pregnant form
6-10 weeks
Hematoms
Collection of blood within tissue
Looks like bulging bluish or purple mass
Pressure on vulva, pelvis or rectum
Thromboembolic disorders and its causes
Blood clot within vein
Caused from pressure on legs, varicose veins
3 types: Superficial vein, deep vein and pulmonary embolism
DVT treatment
SED’s
Increased rest
Increased fluid intake
No smoking
Warm compression
No messaging the extremities, you can move the clot up
Thromboembolic dosorder treaatments
Heparin drip, anticoagulant
Using a soft toothbrush
PE
Can cause chest pain and dysnia
