Ch 19 Part 1 Flashcards
Ability to move the body in one intended direction as fast as possible
Speed
Ability to start stop and change direction in response to signal quickly while maintaining postural control
Agility
Ability to react to a stimulus and appropriately change motion of the body in response to that stimuli
Quickness
Number of strides taken in a given amount of time
Stride rate
Distance covered with each stride during the Gail cycle
Stride length
Everything that happens as you bring the leg forward preparing to strike ground
Frontside mechanics
Everything where we’re pushing the leg back into the ground
Backside mechanics
Body’s ability to naturally sense its general orientation and relative position of its part
Proprioception
Describes ankle plantar Flexion knee extension hip extension of the rear leg while sprinting
Triple extension
Amount of mineral content such as calcium and phosphorus in segment of bone
Bone density
Lower than normal bone density and a precursor to osteoporosis
Osteopenia
Condition of reduced bone mineral density which increases risk of bone fracture
Osteoporosis
Age related loss of muscle mass
Sarcopenia
Physical benifits of SAQ training
Decreases the risk of osteopenia
Three joint actions comprise triple Flexion
Dorsiflexion knee Flexion hip Flexion
