Brain Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the Cerebral Cortex

A

Divided into layers:

  1. Layer = non-specific processing
  2. Layer = primary processing of information
  3. Layer = output to other cortical areas
  4. Layer = thalamic input and relay to layer II
  5. Layer = motor output
  6. Layer = output to thalamus

Q

What is the ventricular system?

A
  • contains the choroid plexus where the CSF is made and later goes into the subarachnoid space

16
Q

What are 3 signs of cerebellar disfunction?

A
  1. Truncal ataxia = meduloblastoma in flocculonodular lobe
  2. Gait ataxia = in the anterior lobe
  3. intension tremor, dyskinesia = in the posterior lobe; occurs due to toxins
17
Q

Which is Sulcus and which is folia?

A
18
Q

What is this space?

A

Sulcus

19
Q

Which layer is purkinje, molecular, granular?

A
20
Q

What are the two types of neurons that play an important role in neruonal circuitry?

A

Purkenje and granule cells

21
Q

What are the 3 types of axons that play an important role in neuronal cicuitry?

A
  1. Mossy Fibers = enter from outside
  2. Climbing fibers = enter from outside
  3. Parallel fibers = already inside since is axon of granule cells
