Brachial Plexus Flashcards
For each cord, give the respective branches: lateral lateral and medial medial posterior
lateral: musculotaneous
lateral and medial: median
medial: ulnar
posterior: radial and axillary
What nerve comes from the root C5? What does it innervate?
Dorsal Scapular; rhomboids and levator scapulae
What nerve comes from the roots C5-C7? What does it innervate?
Long Thoracic Nerve; serratus anterior
What two nerves come from the superior trunk? give their roots as well
Nerve to sublcavius (C5-C6) Suprascapular nerve (C5-C6)
What does musculocutaneous nerve innervate and what are its roots?
anterior arm, sensory to lateral arm; C5-C7
The lateral cords contribution to the median nerve come from what roots?
C6-C7
What does the median nerve innervate?
flexors in forearm and thenar, sensory to the palmar, thumb to half of the 4th, with dorsal of middle and distal phalanges to 2nd to half of 4th
The lateral pectoral nerve comes directly from what cord? What are its roots? What does it innervate?
lateral; C5-C7; pec major
All of the nerves coming directly from the medial cord have the same roots. What are they?
C8-T1
What are the nerves coming from the medial cord?
contribution to median nerve, ulnar nerve, medial pectoral nerve, medial cutaneous of arm, medial cutaneous of forearm
Give all of nerves that come from the posterior cord and their roots and what they innervate
axillary nerve (C5-C6); deltoid and teres minor
radial nerve (C5-T1); extensors
upper subscapular nerve (C5-C6); subscapularis
Thoracodorsal nerve (C6-C8); latissimus dorsi
Lower subscapular nerve (C5-C6); subscapularis and teres major
