- Non sectarian and similar to the Military funeral.
- May vary depending on religious beliefs of deceased.
- Will often be conducted with a much smaller detail than the Military funeral (sometimes as few as 3 or 4 people conducting the service).

- Occurs here in most cases
- May be held in conjunction with a religious committal service or may be the entire committal service.
- Chaplain leads the casket (usually covered with a US flag) from the hearse to the grave.

- Held waist high by members of the particular veteran’s organization during committal service
- Following the service, the members fold the flag and present it to the spouse of next of kin.
