• Increased hunger after recovery from anesthesia/analgesia/fatigue
• Bowel movement may not return for 2-3 days
• Due to pre-labor diarrhea, lack of food, dehydration, opioids, slowed peristalsis, decreased intestinal tone
• 3-4 degree perineal lacerations are at increase risk for anal incontinence with flatus
• Interventions required if lasting longer than 6 months
