CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
- Maternal weight loss (3lb a week)
- Decreased amniotic fluid causing decreased uterine size
- Meconium in amniotic fluid
- Fetal bone maturation with exceptionally hard skull

- Labor Dystocia
- Severe Perineal Injuries

- Endomyometritis
- Postpartum Hemorrhage

- Induction of labor with prostaglandins and oxytocin
- Forceps/Vacuum Assisted Birth

- Abnormal Fetal Growth

- Macrosomia
- Shoulder dystocia can lead to fetal injury

- Decreased amniotic fluid
- Cord compression leading to hypoxemia

- Meconium aspiration

- Decreased SubQ Fat
- Lacks Lanugo and Vernix
- Dry, Cracked, Peeling Skin
- Long Nails
- Meconium staining of skin, nails, umbilical cord

Care Management for Post-Term Pregnancy
A
- Fetal Surveillance (NST, CST, BPP, mBPP)
- Labor can be induced at 41 weeks if cervix is favorable
- Assess fetal activity daily
- Assess signs of labor
- Woman should go to all her appointments
- If oligohydramnios is present, amnioinfusion maybe done
