royal resistyence posed little threat,but when allied with concervative forces, a restoration of the stuart monarch became possible

given the strength of cromewell army it was unlikely that an uprising would sucseed

some forces did shoe hostility towards the gov though
repsect for cromwell sruvigved into the 1650s
