-x-Normal Operations-x- Flashcards
What are the correct pilot actions in a go-around?
PF calls “GoAroundFlaps”, selects TOGA and rotates to 15NU (12.5 OEI)
PM raises flaps one stage and calls the new flap setting (eg. flaps 3 if flap full landing, or flaps 2 if flap 3 landing)
PF reads and calls out FMAs
PM calls “Positive climb”
PF responds “Gear up”
Then rebuild. AP as required, NAV/HDG mode as required etc. and PM makes radio call.
What are the correct pilot actions to discontinue an approach?
PF announces "Cancel Approach" Disarm the approach mode (APPR pb or LOC pb - only valid for ILS or FINAL APP guidance) Select lateral mode as required Select vertical mode as required Select speed and adjust Contact ATC to inform intentions
The above is from the manual. Consider Pushing the V/S button to level off. Bear in mind there may be no “positive climb” as such, so could be worth calling this anyway, or “positive descent” in order to trigger the PF to raise the gear. Remember to fly the missed approach unless instructed by ATC
When can you discontinue an approach and when can you perform a go-around?
Below FCU ALT, go-around must be performed. Above FCU ALT, either go-around or discontinued approach.
