A

General store, for things that use both visual and verbal info e.g watching telly

Q

Phonological loop

A

Controls all auditory information.
Subdivided into the acoustic store (inner ear) and the articulatory store (inner voice)
The acoustic store is for spoken words such as listening to the radio and the articulatory store is for when u read a book for example

Q

Visuo spatial sketchpad

A

Can also be known as the inner eye, processes visual and spatial things, where they are and how they look e.g going home from college

Q

Supported by KF

A

He was brain damaged and they found there was separate stores and subdivisions. They found only half of his STM was damaged, his phonological loop. But visuospatial sketchpad was left intact as he could process visual info

Q

The central executive is Too simplistic and vague

A

This is because it allocates resources and is basically the same as ‘attention’, it lacks detail but is meant to be the main controller. Therefore it isn’t clear enough as it doesn’t say what’s different to attention

Q

Fails to take into account musical memory

A

Songs without words can be memorised and listened to whilst someone is talking without being distracted. But the wmm says that only one thing can be listened to at a time in the phonological loop as it’s unitary and there’s not enough capacity
