Social norms change overtime
For example drinking whilst driving was acceptable, as well as smoking inside. Homosexuality was not accepted, and having children when not married.
Therefore social norms change over time and they need to be considered before labelling a person as abnormal

Social norms can vary from culture to culture
This means what is considered normal in one culture may be considered as abnormal in another this definition of abnormality is an example of cultural relativism
