Statistical infrequency
Behaviour which is statistically rare is seen as abnormal
Deviation form social norms
Behaviour which deviates from social norms
Failure to function adequately
A person is unable to live a normal life unable to experience the normal range of emotions or engage in the normal range of behaviour

Starts with a definition of normality. If a person doesn’t fulfil the criteria this could indicate an abnormality
