why did ideological differences cause berlin blockade
USA and USSR had contrasting ideologies and so disagreed on how to govern post-war Germany
how did the division of germany vause the berlin blockade
after WW2, Germany and Berlin were divided into 4 zones and each controlled by a different country.
Berlin was in the east ( soviet) zone but also divided into 4 so it lead tensions on who should control the city
how did western reofrms in germany cause the berlin blockade
western allies introduced economic reforms, including a new currency also in western germany and west berlin.
USSR became mad as they saw it as a move to strengthen the western sectors and weaken soviet control
how did soviet distrust of western intentions cause berlin blockade
soviets feared the unification of western zones of germany and berlin as a threat to their influence, believed west was trying to rebuild a capitalist germany to oppose soviet block

sent soviet planes to try and block east planes trying to go through the west part of germany
why was berlin important after ww2 (4)
it had been the heart of nazi power, so was importnat to germany and was symbolic
- good for making military bases ( geographical location)
- as they’re in the cnetre of europe they would most liekly influence other countries depending on whos side it was on
power, whoever arrived first would be more prestigious
