Q

what was happening in Turkey in 1947 and why was the USA worried

A

the soviets put pressure on Turkey as they wanted to drill oil in Iran and pass it through turkey down the black sea and into crimea which was in soviet control.

Soviets also wanted a naval base at the coast of turkey and a guarantee that they could pass trade through turkey.

USA id worried about the soviet influence in turkey and iran. They are also scared as they don’t want soviets to have all the oil in the world

USA FEARS THAT IF TURKEY AND IRAN JOINED THEN IT WOULD CREATE A DOMINO EFFECT AND THEY WOULDN’T HAVE ANY MORE ALLIES
